Bored piles should be provided with a minimum longitudinal reinforcement As,bpmin related to pile cross section Ac.

Recommendation

The recommended values for the mimimum reinforcement As,bpmin are given in Table 9.6N. This reinforcement should be distributed along the periphery of the section.

The minimum diameter for the longitudinal bars should not be less than 16 mm. Piles should have at least 6 longitudinal bars. The clear distance between bars should not exceed 200 mm measured along the periphery of the pile.
