The ratio of shear reinforcement is:

ρ = _{w}A / (_{sw}s⋅b⋅sin_{w}α) | (9.4) |

where:

`ρ`_{w}- is the shear reinforcement ratio,

`ρ`should not be less than the minimum value_{w}`ρ`, see § 9.2.2 (5) or the application_{w,min}`ρ`following the EN Eurocode recommendation_{w,min} `s`- is the spacing of the shear reinforcement measured along the longitudinal axis of the member
`A`_{sw}- is the area of shear reinforcement within length
`s` `b`_{w}- is the breadth of the web of the member
`α`- is the angle between shear reinforcement and the longitudinal axis (between 45° and 90°).
