The value of the design tensile strength is defined as

where:

`γ`_{C}- is the partial safety factor for concrete, (see § 2.4.2.4 (1), § 2.4.2.4 (2), and § 2.4.2.4 (3))
`α`_{ct}- is the coefficient taking account of long term effects on the tensile strength and of unfavourable effects, resulting from the way the load is applied.

## Recommendation

The recommended value of `α _{ct}` for the calculation of the design tensile strength of concrete is 1,0.
